THE STORY:
As some of you may know, this one's personal.
I'm running the Boston Marathon to raise money for March of Dimes research into the cause and prevention of birth defects. This fundraiser is to honor the memory of Gavrilo, who was born and died in 1998.
The March of Dimes provides grants to researchers, with the goal of understanding the causes of birth defects and developing new ways to prevent and treat them. Currently, about 70 percent of the causes of birth defects are unknown.
