Team Bear is a special group of athletes who dedicate their upcoming marathon, half marathon, triathlon or any other physical challenge to helping Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation fulfill its critical, nationwide mission to eliminate pediatric cancer and provide hope and support to those who are touched by it.Nineteen years ago, Bear Necessities began in the Chicago hospital room where a boy named “Bear” battled Wilms Tumor, a pediatric cancer. At just eight-years-old, Bear often expressed more concern for his fellow patients than he did for himself. Early in 1993, after a hard 5 ½ years, Bear lost his battle. But through this national organization that now carries his name, Bear’s vision – to do what we can, when we can to help kids with cancer – lives on.
Team Bear members train long and hard for their races while raising funds to help Bear Necessities. Your support will make a real difference in the lives of these brave children. Over 80% of every $ raised through Team Bear will help support Bear Necessities' critical programs and services.
