Hello All -
Thank you very much for taking the time to check out our Memorial Day Marathon fundraising page! Kristen and I are planning to run in this year's Memorial Day Race(s) in the Berkshires to support the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Our good friends Sam Russo & Carrie Holland spearheaded this fundraiser last year while also successfully completing the 26.2 mile marathon. Rob, Colleen, Kristen and I completed the 10K in 2011 and will be back to run again in 2012 in the 10 mile trail run, and will be joined by my brother Brendan. We are attempting to raise as much money as possible to benefit this great charity, the IFHF.
Hearing about Sam's deployments with the US Army to Afghanistan have opened our eyes to the day-to-day struggles, pain, and grief felt by our servicemen & women, and those close to them in the wake of battle-related injuries, post-traumatic stress, and loss of life. Recognizing the need many of our veterans have for post-deployment care, we are dedicated to supporting an organization that does just that - the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
The Memorial Day Marathon Committee is contributing a portion of the race proceeds to IFHF. In addition, this website will allow participants like ourselves to directly raise money for the fund. Your donation will assist families who have lost a loved one, or Soldiers suffering severe physical or mental wounds from our current combat operations. We encourage you to visit the IFHF website at http://www.fallenheroesfund.org/ in order to better understand exactly how your contribution will assist this great organization.
