Undy 5000 5K Run

Have you ever heard about the Undy 5000 5K Run? No? Well you're missing out. It's a brief run to fight colon cancer. What's so great about it? You run in your underwear! Yes, you heard us right - your underwear. We even provide complimentary boxer shorts with each registration instead of the typical raceday T-shirts. Interested? We thought so.

Since it's inception in 2008, the Undy 5000 series has raised almost $2 million! Part of the proceeds from each race in various cities across the nation get left behind to our local screening partners to help fund colon cancer screenings. Other proceeds help fund the CCA's patient support and education programs like our Toll-free Helpline that receives upwards of 700 calls per month, and our Buddy Program.

Mission

We will increase screening rates and survivorship by providing support and education and furthering research and advocacy efforts.

CCA's Guiding Principles:

• Patient support - CCA provides patient support through a supportive community of peers and experts. We also offer a variety of disease management services to help patients and their loved ones cope with the tragedy of this disease.

• Education - CCA offers educational resources including the best and most up-to-date information available about treatments and clinical trials devoted to colorectal cancer. We also work to educate the public and remove financial, medical and psychological barriers that hinder early detection.

• Research - CCA works with other organizations to increase federal, state and private funding for research of all cancers, particularly that which will be devoted to finding more effective treatments and a cure for colorectal cancer.

• Advocacy - CCA is dedicated to advancing and championing the cause of colon cancer patients and their families. Our advocacy efforts help ensure that all departments of Government and those who affect policy are made aware of the needs of the colorectal cancer community.
