We are excited to announce that we have been selected as an official charity for The 2011 Nautica NYC Triathlon which will take place on Sunday August 7th, 2011.

The Drive4Rebecca is an ongoing effort to help children with special needs by helping their families to become stronger advocates, and to support research, education and increase awareness of autism.

In 2002, we drove 3,500 miles across the country to generate attention for autism and to raise funds to establish a school that could help Rebecca and many other children. In September 2003, we achieved our dream by joining together with five others families to create REED Academy in Garfield, N.J. The one-to-one ratio there has made a remarkable difference to the students who attend, including Rebecca.

Today, The Drive4Rebecca continues to help parents of children with special needs to become stronger advocates, raises funds to help advance research, and supports REED Academy and a number of other schools so they can continue the amazing work they do for many children and families.

Rebecca is laughing in the video because she can't wait for her dad to sweat it out during the 2011 Nautica NYC Triathlon while she gets to sit back, relax, and come along for the ride. For the 25 mile bike ride her dad will pull her behind him with the help of a super secret patent-pending device being manufactured by a terrific company called Kent International. Then he will push her in her Advanced Mobility racing chariot for the 10k run -- and no, Rebecca will NOT be pulled on a raft behind her dad in the river because he doesn't want to chase her down the Hudson if she decides to go for a swim.
