Hello everyone

Thank you for visiting my page.  I'm thrilled to be a member of Team Mass Eye and Ear in the 2013 Boston Marathon, and to raise funds to find a cure for Juvenile Retinoschisis, a genetic bilateral eye condition that can cause a progressive loss of vision due to the splitting of the retinal lining.  

Our son Quentin was diagnosed with Juvenile Retinoschisis at the age of 3, after we noticed that he would periodically bring books close to his face.  We were referred to the MEEI by a wonderful pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Amita Bhatt. I will always remember when we first learned of Quentin's condition, and that he also had a macular hole in his left eye, resulting in very limited vision in that eye.  Although we were shocked, we also realized how very fortunate we are to have access to the world's best doctors and hospitals.  Quentin has undergone two surgeries at the MEEI since the initial diagnosis, and continues to see Dr. Mukai and his team on a regular basis to monitor his condition.  He has always received the best possible care in a most caring environment. 

While there is currently no cure for Juvenile Retinoschisis, through this effort, we hope to increase awareness and funding for research to learn more about the disease, to develop a cure, and to prevent any further loss of vision for Quentin and others affected by this disease.

I am honored to be associated with the MEEI and I look forward to see you along the course on April 15th!  We greatly appreciate your support and donation - any amount you contribute will help our cause.
