HERE'S THE STORY:
The Orange County Chapter of Huntington's Disease Society of America is honored to be one of the non-profit partners of the Orange County Marathon/Half Marathon. We are striving to have the biggest "Team to Cure HD" to date! Our goal as a team is to raise at least $10,000 that will help fund research, advocacy, and affected families in need.
Huntington's Disease (HD) is an inherited neurodegenerative brain disorder with symptoms likened to the worst of those associated with Parkinson's, Alzheimer’s and ALS. It is as common as Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy. There currently is no treatment or cure, however, since it's genetic location is known and pre-symptomatic individuals can be identified. HD is an excellent research candidate and a cure will surely benefit those diseases that have so much in common with it.
