HERE'S THE STORY:
I will be running the 2012 Boston Marathon on behalf of MDSC (Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress). In 2011 I raised $10,000 and hope to surpass that amount for 2012. I need your help! Everyone gave so generously last year and I'm hoping for the same.
My parents (Tom & Marge) had 12 children -- I'm the youngest (no I'm not the baby in the photo, that is my niece Linda) -- 7 boys, 5 girls. My brother Stephen was born with Down Syndrome. Steven needed lots of care and had to be placed in a home when he was 5. Steven was always home for the holidays, special occasions and all summer vacations. All of us have our own memories of how Stephen was a part of our lives.
Stephen lived a long, good life. He was able to move into a small group home, he worked, loved to go to dances and loved wrestling.
Supporting MDSC will help support those individuals with Down Syndrome and their families. We need to make sure that all children born with Down Syndrome have the same opportunities and quality of life that Stephen had.
