HERE'S THE STORY:
On Monday, April 16th, I will be running my 3rd marathon and my FIRST Boston Marathon. I will be running to raise funds for the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC) and challenging Heartbreak Hill on behalf of all individuals with Down syndrome.
My motivation to run for the MDSC comes from two young girls - Ava (age 5) and Meggie (age 6). I met these girls through their parents and have been saddened to learn that these amazing girls have been thought to have less capability just because they have Down syndrome.
Also, for the past 15 years, I have volunteered at a summer camp for exceptional citizens and I have been inspired by the many campers with Down syndrome that I have had the pleasure to interact with. They made me realize the huge potential of individuals with Down syndrome. By running the Boston Marathon for MDSC, I hope to raise awareness and spread the message that they are more alike than different.
