Hello Friends and Fans…
As you know, in 2009 my dream came true when I won the ING New York City Marathon. I had been close many times, but I finally won my first marathon ever, and it just happened to be the biggest marathon in the world.
I always try to Run To Win, which means to get the best out of myself in all that I do. In a race, there can only be one first place finisher, but it doesn’t mean that only one person Runs To Win. Run To Win, is more about the effort than the results.
Now that I have won the biggest marathon in the world, of course I want to do it again. I have been training hard and smart in order to give myself the best chance for a strong performance. The results may change, but my efforts will always remain the same…I Run To Win.
My career as a professional runner has already lasted 13 years (since 1998) and I plan on running at this level until 2013. I hope everyone knows that I will continue to work to get the most out of every drop of my God-given talent.
I have gained a lot of great benefits, friendships and support throughout the years. And now, I feel I have the platform to give back to the communities I have benefited from and am in a position to assist. I have created the MEB Foundation, to support health, education and fitness initiatives around the world, but with a specific focus on the USA and my native country of Eritrea. As you will see in my book, Run To Overcome, health, education and fitness have been the cornerstones of my success in and outside of running.
I would like your support to help The MEB Foundation reach its goals. This year 30 people will join me as a part of Team MEB, running to raise awareness and funds for the foundation. Any level of support is appreciated and will make a difference.
On November 6, 2011, all participants of the ING New York City Marathon will be running for special reasons. We will all be running to win- a win for personal fitness, a win for a personal best, a win for special person, a win for a special cause… RUN TO WIN!"
