OUR CHALLENGE

Scott will join Nature Conservancy CEO Mark Tercek, Africa program staffers and volunteer runners who will represent Team Nature at the13th Annual Safaricom Marathon and Half Marathon on June 30, 2012.

Does our team have what it takes to tackle one of the world’s toughest marathons? As if running under the African sun weren’t challenging enough, our team must share the ground with lions, cheetahs, elephants and many other wild animals on a mile-high course located entirely within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

Our team members are committed to test their mettle. Now all they need is you.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

All funds raised by Team Nature members will support urgent conservation and community-development projects that bring tangible benefits to local people and wildlife in this special region of Africa.

Examples of projects funded by previous marathons:

• Support for 13 schools servicing more than 5,000 children
• Support for four district hospitals
• Medical care for 300+ people injured by wildlife
• Establishment of four community forestry programs
• Support for game scouts and dog-tracking teams that protect endangered rhinos
• Equipment for Kenya Wildlife Service scouts
• Support for Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Northern Rangelands Trust, and Meru National Park
