THE STORY:
Hey folks,
As most of you know I spend free time I have enjoying the beach environment via surfing, beach volleyball, and hanging with family and friends. I the past I have raised $ for ocean organizations via my art and graphic design on t's. This year, I have joined team Oceana in racing in the Malibu Triathlon in hopes of raising some $ for one of my favorite causes - a clean and healthy ocean environment.
I've got a week left to be ready...
The Nautica Malibu Triathlon starts with an energy sapping swim through the salty, cold water of the Pacific, continues with a fast up and back trek along the subtle inclines of the Pacific Coast Highway, and finishes with a final kick of pain and endurance over the pavement and blacktop along the sands of Zuma Beach.
Sounds hard, right? Wrong, the race is the easy part.
The hard part is acheiving the mission of Team Oceana: racing to raise funds and awareness for that which ails our oceans. Problems like pollution, habitat destruction, and the overfishing of key species, like sharks (tantamount to eradicating the Lions of the Serengeti, or the Wolves of Yellowstone) .
But just as the members of Team Oceana aren't daunted by the challenging race course we're set to face on September 17, we have the courage and the will to restore our oceans to abundant health.
So, please join our effort, spread the word about Oceana (the world's largest international ocean conservation group) and help us hit our fundraising goal - $5,000 - for the triathlon.
