HERE'S THE STORY:
For my 6th Boston Marathon run I am continuing to focus on raising money for a smaller charity where I feel that I can really make an impact. This year I will again be raising money to support Project Hope and the work they do.
In the past, many of the marathon runners on my crew have been significant fundraisers for charity. It is my hope that together this year we can raise in excess of $100,000 which will really make a difference to the many families that Project Hope works with. The 2012 Porject Hope Marathon team is 20 runners strong and I am privileged to be one of it's leaders!
Project Hope
The marathon tradition in Boston represents individuals setting and achieving personal goals, and breaking through barriers for greater triumph. This is the work that Project Hope does with families every day. They help them believe in their own possibilities to break through the barriers that keep them poor. Project Hope fosters their journey through personal transformation and celebrates with them as they achieve economic security for themselves and their children.
Funds raised will be applied to the agency's core services: homelessness prevention; adult education and ESOL classes; training and access to jobs that pay career level wages; high quality day care; and providing emergency shelter services and ongoing case management for families in crisis.
