Proposed National Conservation Area
TULEYOME
EVENT: Save our Lands, Rivers and Trails!
HERE'S THE STORY:
The Berryessa Snow Mountain region is a diverse mosaic of public lands located less than 100 miles from San Francisco and Sacramento. This unique region is rich in natural features and hosts a wide variety of wildlife and plant species, some of which are found nowhere else on Earth. Recreational opportunities abound and include hiking, kayaking, hunting, camping, fishing, and bird watching. A broad spectrum of stakeholders - from business owners to boaters, elected officials to equestrian enthusiasts - strongly supports the effort to permanently preserve this special region as a congressionally designated National Conservation Area. Such distinction will expand public awareness of the area's unique values and boost the economies of surrounding "gateway" communities through new jobs, tourism revenue and increased property values. National Conservation Area status for the Berryessa Snow Mountain region will preserve its wild character, maintain its distinctive attributes and provide sustainable economic development opportunities for nearby communities for current and future generations to enjoy.
