Camp Sunshine is pleased to announce the 2013 Virginia Polar Dip. We believe that together, we can send many more children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to our one-of-a kind retreat in Maine. To date the Virginia Polar Dip has raised over $232,000! This year, our goal is to raise $100,000 which will allow 50 families from the Mid-Atlantic (PA-VA-MD-DC-DE-NC-WV) area to come to Camp Sunshine.
Any plunger raising $100, you will receive a highly-coveted, commemorative, long-sleeve “I DID IT” event shirt!
For those individuals not quite ready to take the full plunge, we do offer the "chicken dip"!
Why a Virginia based event for a camp in Maine?
The Virginia Polar Dip was started by the Toth family in 2008 after a long history with Camp Sunshine. They first attended Camp Sunshine as a participating family in 1996 when their daughter Jennifer was a cancer patient at age 3, and they have returned as volunteers every summer since. After Jennifer participated in a Camp Sunshine Polar Dip in New Jersey, her family decided to bring the event to Virginia in order to help more local families.
For 2013, the Virginia Polar Dip is reaching out to the entire community in an effort to raise awareness and money for Camp Sunshine. This year we're making it easier than ever to let all of our participants, volunteers and supporters get involved and help make a difference.
We've partnered with CrowdRise to encourage the entire community to unite and fundraise for Camp Sunshine. Just imagine the impact the entire community can have when harnessed to give back in a fun and compelling way!
