THE STORY:
We started out as a group of co-workers that all shared a love of running, meeting on a weekly basis as a way to get a little exercise after a busy day in the office. Some of us the hard core competitors, others the leisurely fun runners, we decided to form a team for The Relay - a team race through some of the most scenic parts of Calfiornia, including Napa and Sonoma Valleys, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Santa Cruz Mountains. All total, we will cross through nine counties, 36 cities, and 194 miles of fun over two days.
The purpose of The Relay is to raise money for Organs ‘R Us, an organization founded to connect organ donors with the many people around the country in need of a transplant. To date, Organs ‘R Us has raised over $20 million promoting organ donation. Currently there are approximately 90,000 people in the US waiting for an organ. Of that total, an average of 18 of those people die each day, still waiting for a donor. At the same time, 80 new names are added to the waiting list.
