Who Wants to be a Spellionaire? EVENT DATE: Mar 22, 2012
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Mar 21, 2012
DEADLINE TO REGISTER: Mar 22, 2012
Ten teams of three adults each will compete in the word challenge of their lives on Thursday, March 22, 2012.
The team that abdicates the superfluous squads by spelling "abcoulomb" and "zyzzyva" will walk away with the distinction: Best Spellers in Buncombe County! But teams must have both spelling and concentration skills in order to disregard the pandemonium caused by a costumed, cheering audience!
And spellers beware of other chiselling teams--the more moolah a team raises ahead of time through Crowdrise, the more they are permitted to cheat...
The "Who Wants to be a Spellionaire? Adult Spelling Bee" benefits the Literacy Council of Buncombe County (LCBC). LCBC teaches adults basic reading, writing, math, and English language skills through individual and small group instruction by trained volunteers. Students gain self-confidence and develop self-sufficiency to transform their lives as individuals, parents, workers, and citizens.
