I am in my last year of residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Iowa. I went to high school in Osage, a small town in northern Iowa, went to the University of Iowa where I played football, and earned my medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston. I have never run a marathon and have decided to run Boston for charity with a friend of mine to support the Mass General Hospital for Children. I worked with children fighting cancer at MGH when I was a medical student in Boston and would like to do what I can to help improve their care.
The Mass General Marathon Team has raised over $6.7 million to support the pediatric hematology-oncology program at MGHfC. Funds raised are directed to cancer care and research initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the hospital’s youngest cancer patients
