2011 SAMFund GRANTS Campaign:
Giving Relief & Assistance Now to Ten Survivors
Last week, The SAMFund received 211 applications in the final round of our two-part application process -- 80 more than last year! There is huge need out there among young adult survivors... and for many of them, The SAMFund is their only available resource for support.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
In a few short weeks, our Board of Trustees will be making its decision on how much we are able to award this year in grants. They'll be looking at two things: tax returns from our most recent fiscal year, and financial statements from the first quarter - which, incidentally, ends on September 30th.
So here's the deal -- however much we raise between now and September 30th will be counted in our grants pool for this fall! Simply put, the more we raise, the more young adult survivors we'll be able to help.
Please help us reach our goal of $15,000, which will enable us to award ten (and maybe more!) additional grants this fall. These grants will help survivors continue their health insurance coverage, take their prescription meds each month, live in their homes, start families, and regain their overall health, strength and wellness.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation so that we can say yes to more applicants this year than ever before! In case you're wondering...
$1,000 will pay for 3 months' health insurance
$500 will cover a gym or yoga membership for the entire year
$250 will help with utility costs this winter
$100 will provide two months' worth of public transportation costs
$50 will pay for someone's prescription co-pays for a month
... and donations of $10, $15, $25 and other amounts will add up and help us reach our goal!
