We make it possible for people with physical disabilities to become pilots. People who use wheelchairs or have prosthetic arms or legs, and even an amazing young woman born with arms are now pilots because of Able Flight.
We believe that aviation should be open to anyone that can meet the challenge of learning to fly, and since we started Able Flight in 2006, we've created an incredible support network and we've given scholarships to 28 inspiring people (with more to come soon!). Check out our video on the left side of this page and you'll see what we mean.
And check out a great project by two Able Flight pilots, Heather Schultz and Sean O'Donnell. It's called Freedom Flight 2011. Heather and Sean are both paralyzed, and they'll fly an adapted airplane on a 1000 mile trip to meet with wounded veterans and others to promote the program that made it possible for them to become pilots. It's their way of giving back, and they are encouraging people to donate any amount per mile to help fund scholarships for wounded veterans.
