WAYS TO FUNDRAISE ON CROWDRISE
We were told by someone much smarter and taller than us that we should make a page showing examples of the different types of fundraisers that individuals, charities, and businesses can get going on Crowdrise. If you don’t feel like reading all the text (there’s no chance I would), you can click on the images to see great examples of the different and creative ways people are using Crowdrise to leverage the power of the Crowd and turn a lot of small donations from their friends, family, classmates, ex-lovers, and the Crowdrise community into meaningful dollars for their favorite charities. Setting up a fundraiser on Crowdrise is really quick and easy and if you don’t have fun and get totally addicted to Crowdrise, Contact Us right away so we can give you such amazing service that you feel compelled to tell ten friends and two strangers about Crowdrise.
PERSONAL FUNDRAISING
It’s ridiculously easy and free to start your own fundraising page on Crowdrise and raise money for any cause you care about (e.g. one person raised money to build a playroom for foster kids, another raised money to help clean up the oil spill in the Gulf). You can choose from over a million different charities to find the one that inspires you and use our award winning tools (Note: we didn’t really win an award but we should) to create your super compelling fundraising page. We highly recommend you set a fundraising goal, make the first donation to your fundraiser to set the tone, and then send your page to everyone you know and ask them to donate. At Crowdrise, we truly believe in the Power of the Crowd. That means that one person can make a difference and a lot of $10 and $25 donations can add up quickly. And we're not just saying it because it sounds good. See an Example of a successful Personal Fundraising Page or Start Your Own Fundraiser right now. Contact Us if you need help with anything or just want to talk.
EVENT FUNDRAISING
First, just Click Here to see how cool our Event Fundraising Pages are. This was for the ING New York City Marathon. Crowdrise gives you the best tools, technology, reporting and other nice stuff, plus the greatest customer service and in the world. If you’re still looking at the marathon example, notice how you can put a big status message at the top of the page to promote whatever you want (we recommend doing contests to make the entire experience more fun and use it to create a sense of urgency for fundraisers and donors – all of which we can help you with). Further down the page is the Team Leaderboard, where you can donate or click through and see each team and each team member’s personal fundraising page for the event. In case you’re not convinced yet, here’s a quote from a charity that did a bowlathon through Crowdrise. Normally we’d make up a quote but this one is actually real. “Crowdrise makes it all so easy. They helped us make it fun for everyone involved and we raised 40% more money when we used Crowdrise.” Contact Us when you’re ready to set up your event or want more information about anything.
OCCASION FUNDRAISING
Let me say one thing first. I can’t swim. That has nothing to do with anything but I just wanted to open up. Occasion Fundraising means that when you have a birthday, wedding, graduation, holiday, etc., you should live Crowdrise-style and ask your friends and family to donate to your favorite charities instead of getting you gifts that you don’t really need and have to open in front of them, like the dress shirt my girlfriend just got me that was just awful looking. Awful. (Note to Ally, I apologize if you read this. I’m sure the shirt would look great on someone taller than me). Anyway, all you need to do is Start a Fundraiser, pick a charity and tell everyone you know that this year, you’d rather raise money for charity and make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. Imagine how much more everyone will like you. At least we’ll like you more. Here’s a great example of a lovely, just lovely couple who asked for donations instead of gifts using their Wedding Fundraising Page (they set up 5 different fundraisers so their friends could choose which charitable project they wanted to support). And here’s someone that said she had no interest in gifts or cards this year and instead set up a Birthday Fundraising Page. Soon enough, it’s time for you to all set up a Crowdrise Fundraiser for the Holidays. Over time, if you don't have at least a couple occasion fundraising pages live on Crowdrise that probably means that you're sort of selfish.
TEAM FUNDRAISING
The best part about Crowdrise other than the Picture of a Napkin, might be that once you start a fundraiser, you can not only ask all your friends to donate cash money but you can also ask them to join your fundraising team and help you raise money. It’s an incredibly effective way to raise a lot of money. Invite your friends, family and some strangers to join your fundraising team. With one click they can have their own fundraising page as part of your team. If you ask them to reach out to their network of friends, you’ll raise significantly more money with your Crowdrise team than you expected to raise before you read this really long sentence than everyone at Crowdrise will forego ice cream for a full day. Here’s a perfect example of Team Fundraising in Action. One person on the team put on two charity concerts. Another person on the team did a bake sale. Another offered to build you a website if you donated to the cause, and so on. And everyone on the team emailed their fundraising page to their network of friends asking for donations. It’s viral fundraising and it works. Start Your Fundraiser and once it’s set up, invite people to join your team and then inspire them to help you raise money for charity.
SPONSORED VOLUNTEERISM
Crowdrise has partnered with Hands On Network, Service Nation, All for Good, City Year, New York Cares and others to create a whole new way of fundraising. We call it Sponsored Volunteerism and it’s the idea that whether you're volunteering to mentor students for a year, helping to build an orphanage in Kenya, doing community service at a local shelter on weekends, or just getting a bunch of friends together to help clean up a hiking trail, you should be getting sponsored. If you don't know what that means, here's the easiest explanation ever -- marathon runners email all their friends before a race and ask them to sponsor their effort and all the money they raise goes to their favorite charity. All we're saying is, that's exactly what we want volunteers to do. Simply sign up for an account on Crowdrise if you don’t already have one and create your fundraising page to show the amazing volunteer work you're doing. Be sure to choose a charity to receive the donations and then message all your friends and family and ask them to sponsor you. If they don't give at least a little cash money, you don't have to talk to 'em for seventeen days. Start your Volunteer Fundraising Page and become part of the Sponsored Volunteerism movement.
FOR CHARITIES ONLY
Our goal is to give you the best tools, technology and customer service so you can engage your supporters and the Crowdrise community in a personal, authentic way. Crowdrise helps you turn your base of grassroots supporters into a base of grassroots fundraisers. We highly recommend you Add a Link from your site to your Charity’s page on Crowdrise like you do with Twitter and Facebook, and let your supporters know they can start their own personal fundraising page to raise money for your charity, whether they have a special occasion like a birthday or just want to get involved in a more meaningful way. Crowdrise also gives your charity a turnkey (someone smarter than me told me to use that word) way to start a compelling charity campaign to compliment your own website. Your Charity, your supporters, and the Crowdrise community can help take it viral. Finally, your Charity can start or join Events Fundraisers. Most importantly, Crowdrise is a community of extremely dedicated fundraisers, volunteers and donors. Crowdrise makes the experience so fun that the community gets addicted to giving back. If you haven’t already, Add Your Charity to Crowdrise and tap into it the Power of the Crowd right now. Oh, there are zero start up costs, donations are 100% tax deductible and charities are paid every 30 days by our non-profit partner, Network for Good. Learn all you need to know in under 2 minutes at our Charity FAQs, go here to see an Example of a Charity Page on Crowdrise, and Contact Us anytime so we can give you the greatest service in the world.
