STUFF ABOUT ME:
I'm an Actor & Musician born in Texas, raised in Louisiana, and residing in Chicago. I graduated from LSU with an English Degree and I'm now studying Improv at Second City. The New York Marathon will be my 3rd marathon. I ran the Dallas White Rock in 2004 and I'll be running the Chicago marathon 10.10.10 roughly 3 weeks before the NYC run.
Why am I partnering with Malaria No More for the NYC Marathon?
I anticipate it will take me roughly 3hrs and 45 minutes to finish a 26.2 mile race. In that same amount of time 300 children in Africa will die from Malaria (1 every 45seconds). Here's the kicker - we have the medicine and technology to fight Malaria... but they don't.
Malaria No More:
Children under the age of 5 account for 90% of all malaria deaths – a disease which is completely preventable and treatable. We know what it takes to defeat this disease, and Malaria No More is committed to ending deaths from malaria by 2015. We can do it – but we need your help.
Malaria No More is proud to be part of the New York Road Runners’ Charity Partner Program for the 2010 ING New York City Marathon. In addition to undertaking an extraordinary 26.2 mile race, our runners have dedicated their participation to raise funds and awareness in the fight against malaria.
Malaria kills 2,200 children each day and almost one million people each year, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. Malaria No More will use each dollar raised through Team Malaria No More’s participation in the marathon to help African countries work toward ending malaria deaths by 2015. We greatly appreciate your support for Malaria No More as we work together to save lives and achieve the greatest humanitarian success of the 21st century.
