BENEFITING: Alternatives for Girls

HERE'S THE STORY:
Kristen Gustafson, Jamie Baker, Carri Lutt and I are facilitating a six week health and fitness workshop at Alternatives For Girls' summer camp, Rise and Shine. Through classroom discussion and activities and physical fitness classes, our workshop will focus on the importance of physical and mental health and fitness, all while having fun!
Alternatives for Girls is a non-profit corporation dedicated to empowering homeless and high-risk girls and young women in the Detroit area through its shelter, community outreach, mentoring and prevention programs. Its goal is to empower the girls and young women it serves to make positive choices. Its mission is to help homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation, and help them to explore and access the support, resources and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong and to make positive choices in their lives.
