EVENT: Bay to Breakers 2012
THE STORY:
Hello! I am a senior at Woodside Priory and I am running Bay to Breakers 2012! I have never run this race before but I'm a cross-country runner and I'm very excited. This year I am running in conjunction with Daraja Academy in Kenya. Daraja is an all-girls school based on the philosophy that girls who receive a quality education become empowered to make something of their lives and really go far. The girls at this school will be running the same distance on the same day as me. Irene W. is a Daraja sophomore and is my running buddy.
To the left, I have added a small photo album. The first picture is of me running in a varsity cross-country race this past season. There's also a picture of my friends Kat and Maddie and me (I'm on the left) after a cross-country race this year and a picture of Irene, my Daraja pal.
Please help me out by donating some money! This is an wonderful cause. I think it's so amazing that I can have a friendship and running camaraderie with a girl who's a world away. Who's with me? :)
Thank you to everyone who donated! You helped a fabulous cause. Bay to Breakers was today and it couldn't have been more perfect! The day was sunny and beautiful and unseasonably warm for San Francisco. The 7.5 mile course from the inner city up hills all the way to Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach was lovely. The finish line was right along the beach. There were probably 30 other people running for Daraja Academy. There were 22,000 people total. Crazy, but really fun. I definitely want to do it again next year!
