Our Mission

Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser. Our goal is to make Alzheimer’s nothing but a memory. We plan to do this by funding research into the cause of, care for, and cure for Alzheimer’s. Many of us here at the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation have witnessed this disease firsthand and we come to work every day to raise money for the cure.

We fund two laboratories here in New York City. The first is the Greengard Lab at The Rockefeller University in New York, NY. This lab is run by Dr. Paul Greengard and they do groundbreaking neuroscience research with the ultimate goal of curing Alzheimer’s. Dr. Greengard’s science is so impressive, that he was awarded the NOBEL PRIZE in 2000 for his research on brain communication. Recently, his team found a way to look at many different cell types in the brain at once instead of one at a time. This allows them to see the subtle differences that they couldn’t really see before. Yes, the actual science is way more complicated than that, but it’s impressive, nonetheless.

We also fund Dr. Barry Reisberg at New York University Langone Medical Center. Dr. Reisberg was the scientist who outlined the clinical stages of Alzheimer’s disease. His lab looks at treatment and care for Alzheimer’s from the patient and doctor perspective, as well as the caregiver perspective.

Something to keep in mind: Crowdrise is awesome, but nothing is ever free. They keep a small portion of your donation to pay their people and cover their costs. Consider adding a few dollars to your donation to cover these costs so that more of your money goes to Alzheimer’s research!
