On June 30th, I will be 1 of 18 lucky BlackRock employees chosen to participate in a half marathon in Kenya. The 12th Safaricom Marathon and Half Marathon will take place at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, 140 miles north of Nairobi.
This event is organized by Tusk and supported by Safaricom. BlackRock supports Tusk’s local educational projects such as school buildings, food programs, and small scale but highly cost effective sustainable development project such as clean water provision. Over the past four years BlackRock has been able to raise over $900k for Tusk. To learn more about Tusk and the event, please visit www.tusk.org
As these programs have a steep cost to start and maintain, I have set a personal fundraising goal of $5,000 for this event.
However, I can’t do this alone. Together we can help a great organization continue to provide economic development and education in a drought and poverty stricken part of Kenya.
