Sending a May vote to you after a bit of a hiatus. Spring time is the time when the belly dance community here goes into full force, and the vast majority of our shows are charity events, so I have been busy. Spring, however, is the time for new beginnings, and it was time for me to make some serious changes. New living arrangements, a new job, and new opportunities have dominated the past few months, but my Crowdrise friends were always close to my heart (even if my heart was not close to my computer during this time). I admit to feeling a bit out of touch, but hope to catch up quickly. Keep up the awesome job you are doing!

Hey Angel,

Here’s a March vote to keep off an amazing month!

Our time on Crowdrise has been such an amazing gift to myself and our students here at the Imagine Academy in South Africa. It has introduced us to some incredible people and helped us raise much needed funds to keep our project going.

Now we need your help in a different way. More than donations (though those are pretty important ;) what drives our program is ideas, most notably creative ideas. The kids we work with don't have much chance in school to think outside the box, as their curriculum consists almost entirely of rote learning. Our goal is to bridge that gap and challenge the students to think in ways (analytically, imaginatively, abstractly) that they haven't had a chance to before.

So my challenge to you is to dip into your own deep well of creativity and send over your best idea for the Imagine Academy. Don’t be shy! It can be anything: a book, short story, poem, board game, logic game, funny story, computer software, relevant organization to share with, and on and on. Our kids are 14-17 years old and eager to ponder big ideas, use their imagination, and empower their futures. So think back to what intellectually inspired you at that very pivotal age!
