HERE'S THE STORY:
Since 2005, a group of 10-20 recent Seattle University alumni and friends have been committing one week of every year during Thanksgiving to building homes in and raising money for underserved communities in Mexico with the support of non-profit organization, Esperanza (www.esperanzainternational.org). Five years and four treks later, we have had over 60 volunteers, worked on over eight projects, and raised over $15,000 for the organization.
In 2010, due to numerous financial and scheduling constraints, we were unable to trek, leaving the organization without our much-needed physical and financial support. 2010 also marked a fellow volunteer Angelica's milestone 30th birthday.
As such, it is my hope that friends, family and community will join together in "Just 30 for 30"; donating a minimum of just $30 in honor of her 30th birthday and to benefit the tremendous work of Esperanza, organizing communities and assisting families living in substandard housing.
Our goal is to raise $3,000 for Esperanza by the end of 2010. "Just $30" is the suggested minimum, but gifts of all sizes - big and small - will make a great difference in the lives of many. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
