Only 20% of the people affected last year now have a roof over their heads; the rest are still homeless and they still need your help!!!

STUFF ABOUT ME:

I'm a seventeen year old who likes to help others. The problem is i have no job so i can't really donate a ton of money to charities all the time. Therefore, i'm doing the next best thing - raising money on crowdrise! by far one of the coolest websites i've ever seen. :)
Here's some info on my project:
In the last month, due to flooding, 20 million people have been left displaced - their homes are wrecked, their crops are destroyed, and their family members are missing, or dead. Not only that, but terrible diseases are beginning to spread, which can lead to even more deaths. The world has been slow to respond to these people's agony and distress. The commitment per person is only $3.00, whereas in Haiti, it was $475.00 per person. Please donate to save the millions of people that need your help. Even a dollar will go a long way in this case. All proceed will go to unicef!

According to UN Cheif, Ban Ki-Moon: "Village after village - washed away. Roads, bridges, homes - destroyed. Crops and livelihoods - wiped out. I met women and men with very little in the best of times, awash in a sea of suffering,"

** my other message to everyone is to KEEP HELPING HAITI AS WELL. just because it is no longer in the news does not mean that the problem's that they are facing there have disappeared. it's extremely important to keep the Haitians in our prayers, and to keep sending money and supplies to the people of that nation. **

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:

well, because there's no reason not to :)

Happy May! It’s finally spring, and kids will soon be running out the school doors into sweet summer freedom. But over 19,000,000 children across the country do not own a single book. Can you imagine a summer without even a little fun reading?

Please take a minute to check out Reader to Reader's newest fundraiser with Twive & Receive: http://twive.razoo.com/story/Amherst-Loves-Books Your donation on June 14th could help us win a share of $30,000! Now more than ever, the smallest donation can have a huge impact. You can sign up for a reminder email on our page, or if you just can't wait to get books in the hands of children, donate now. Thank you for your support!

Happy April, CR friend!
Reader to Reader is auctioning off some great artwork to raise funds for our many international programs, thanks to our friends at the ART4GOOD Foundation. If you like art, books, or education, stop by and take a look at the 35 beautiful pieces available! http://bit.ly/HjFtMO
You get a beautiful piece of art, and RTR can:
-provide special education programs for children in the Dominican Republic;
-teach women to read in Nigeria;
-keep abandoned children in childhood through reading and improve theater in rural China;
-sponsor Haitian kids to finish school;
-continue to grow our public library in a coffee-farming Costa Rican village;
AND support many other programs that do wonderful work in India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Kosovo, Ghana and other countries.
If art isn’t your thing, you can still support our programs by donating or joining our team. Take a look at my projects to see more of what we do.
All the best, and HAPPY READING,
Kat
