Art From Scrap is Santa Barbara’s Environmental Education and Art Center. Art From Scrap (AFS) provides the community with a Green Schools environmental education program, an Art Workshop and Gallery, and a Reuse retail store.The Watershed Resource Center is managed by the AFS Green Schools environmental education program. AFS Green Schools supports teachers with resources, including teacher training workshops, classroom materials, and garden supplies.
• Green Schools (http://www.artfromscrap.org/envedu.html) is our environmental education program with a focus on Healthy Watersheds, Organic Gardening and Composting, School Gardens, Natural Resources,and Waste Reduction. AFS Green Schools serves over 12,000 students and teachers a year by presenting over 600 in-class lessons and field trips to Art From Scrap, the Recycling Center, the Watershed Resource Center (http://www.artfromscrap.org/wrc_index.html) and creek sites each year.
• AFS Reuse Store (http://www.artfromscrap.org/reusestore.html) provides an innovative solution to the lack of funds for the arts, while also decreasing the amount of trash going to the landfill, by supplying low-cost, recycled materials to schools, community organizations, families and the general public.
• Community Art (http://www.artfromscrap.org/art.html) activities expand opportunities for children and adults to explore their creativity through art workshops at the AFS Art Center, professional art shows in the AFS Gallery, and partnerships with community organizations to conduct free art activities at their events and festivals.
