Each Year Over 1,000 Pets are Given Good Homes!
Adoptions are made with the best interest of the pets in mind. We attempt to match the right person with the right pet. We ask each person surrendering an pet to provide detailed information about the pet. We are always happy to share what information we can about a pet and to help you find the right pet for your home. All pets placed for adoption receive a veterinary examination, their first set of shots, are dewormed and are spayed or neutered.
Lorain County citizens have been volunteering for Friendship APL since it began. Indeed, Friendship APL was created and is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. A formal volunteer program was initiated in 1998. Volunteers fill crucial roles in the shelter by walking the dogs, cleaning cages, and keeping the shelter operating. Volunteers also work with the cats, the spay & neuter program or take pets to nursing homes. They may also serve on various committees, help with fund raising events, or do other wonderful things.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
Who We Are:
Friendship APL is a private, independent, non-profit [501(c)(3)] humane society founded in Elyria, Ohio in 1957. We own and operate the largest animal shelter in Lorain County. Our members incorporated on August 30, 1957 as the Lorain County Animal Protective League. We changed our name to Friendship Animal Protective League on October 30, 2005.
How We are Funded:
Friendship APL receives no government funding. We depend on the generosity and financial support of friends and neighbors, and on various fundraisers, to serve the people and animals of Lorain County.
