Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser.
The mission of Best Friends Animal Society is to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets®. Best Friends Animal Society is a national nonprofit organization committed to animal welfare. Established in 1984, Best Friends Animal Society is working to bring about a time when homeless, unwanted animals are no longer being killed in shelters, and when every healthy companion animal can be guaranteed a good life in a caring home. Working with our members, supporters, and other animal welfare organizations, Best Friends Animal Society works to provide sanctuary to our 1,700 resident animals, serve the public and local animal welfare organizations around the country through community programming and services, and support local and national animal rescue operations. At this time, BFAS has a network presence in 72 city and state sites and provides direct animal welfare services in Utah, Nevada, California, New York, Florida, Missouri, Maryland, and Texas.
At the heart of Best Friends Animal Society’s work is the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the nation’s largest no-kill safe haven for displaced, homeless, or unwanted animals. This extraordinary place covers 3,700 acres located in Angel Canyon, Utah. This refuge, like none other, is a place of redemption for pets and wildlife moments away from euthanization. Animals, no matter how forsaken and sick, find hope at the sanctuary. These silent victims come for special care from shelters and rescue groups all across the country. The sanctuary has a myriad of programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each animal. Many of them just need a few weeks of special care before they are ready to go to good, new homes with loving families. However, some of the residents that may be older, have endured extreme trauma, and/or require additional medical care can find a permanent home at the sanctuary.
