THE STORY:
National Braille Press, Inc. wrote -
The Blindfold Challenge is a unique opportunity to raise funds and awareness for National Braille Press by running the prestigious BAA 5K blindfolded and assisted by a sighted guide. Runners are connected by a two-foot tether and will run the same course, at the same time, and under the same circumstances as the other runners in the 5K event. This one-of-a-kind event mirrors the experience of many blind athletes who will be competing in the 5K and Boston Marathon the same weekend.
Running blindfolded is a way for athletes to show their solidarity with blind and visually impaired individuals, proving that with the right tools and support, something that seems incredibly difficult becomes entirely possible. Each runner-guide pair has committed to raising $1,500 to support NBP's mission of braille literacy. Nothing substitutes for the ability to read and braille is the only medium for true literacy for blind people.
you can help give the gift of literacy by supporting the Blindfold Challenge.
