THE STORY:
With your donation to the Strong Kids Campaign, you make it possible for children and teens to take part in programs that teach them positive behaviors, allow them to explore their talents and help them grow and realize their potential. Thank you for your support and generosity!
Because of your contribution, this year the Boll Family YMCA is able to support.....
- Detroit Swims- Each year the Boll YMCA will teach 1,500 Detroit kids to swim. In only 8 lessons, you can help transform a child from a fear of water to a swimmer able to swim the length of the deep end! Check out the video on the left that tells the story of one swimmer named Darius. $100 will graduate one child from the program and includes a donated swim suit and swim cap.
- Girls on the Run- This extraordinary program combines a message of healthy lifestyle choices with the physical fitness of running. All girls "graduate" with a non-competitve 5k race along with 1,500 other young women from across Southeast Michigan. $175 supports one young lady through the 2 week, 20 session program and includes her first pair of running shoes and apparel.
- Day Camp- Each summer more than 250 parents apply for financial support in order to afford safe, nurturing and enriching YMCA camp for their children. Most parents are working families unable to provide summer camp without your support. YMCA day camp is more then day care services- the child recevies summer tutoring, swim lessons and physical fitness. Most importantly, all YMCA children are instructed in the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
