Butte County Humane Society
Our Mission
Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser.
Welcome to Butte Humane Society (BHS). We are one of the oldest non-profit agencies in Butte County, California, working since 1911 to bring humanitarian care to dogs, cats and other animals. We are a low kill shelter that strives to make our animals as comfortable as possible during their stay with us.
Our goal at Butte Humane Society is to find loving homes for the nearly 6,000 lost, abandoned and otherwise unwanted animals that come through our door each year, and to provide education to the public concerning animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering.
Our mission is to provide and advocate humane treatment of companion and other animals through promotion of compassion, responsible stewardship and public awareness in our community and the world we share.
To further our commitment to ending the cycle of pet overpopulation, BHS has recently opened a spay and neuter clinic that provides low cost options for our local communities. To read more about the spay and neuter clinic, click here.
