Have you ever wanted to explore parts of our foodshed, by foot? Want to check out some urban farm & food justice projects, take action locally, learn something new, support the Community Alliance for Global Justice and the 2nd edition of "Our Food, Our Right," all while hitting the trail – in the city?

Join us on April 28, 10am-3pm for a fun day of urban hiking at the Urban Hike-a-thon, and support the publication of "Our Food, Our Right" & CAGJ's work!  You can find out more about the hike route and details at www.seattelglobaljustice.org/food-justice/cagjhike, and read more about "Our Food, Our Right" and what your fundssupport at http://www.seattleglobaljustice.org/book/

Hikers pledge to raise $50 from their community, and can also assemble a team of friends, families, co-workers, and more to participate (or donate to meet their fundraising pledge) in a Hike-a-thon through the city, where we will:

  • Stop at local food justice projects, union grocers, locally sourced restaurants, local food processors, urban farms, and more en route
  • Share a lunch break with a view,
  • Discover new things around every turn,
  • Find the green in the city

 

Together we will raise $10,000 to publish our 2nd book, foreword by Raj Patel.

 

Start a Team! - Want to hit the trail with a friend, partner, comrade, buddy, family, group, or more? Start your own team, and make a bigger impact for food justice. You and others on your team will pledge to each raise $50 by reaching out to your community — every $10, $15, $20 goes to support great work - getting us leaps and bounds closer to our fundraising goal, as you embark on the urban hike with your team.

To get sarted with your own team of hikers:

  • click "Fundraise for this Event" at the top right
  • click "Create a New Team"
  • Fill out the fields with your Team Name and other options to start your own fundraising page for your team & members - under "Amount of Money You Hope to Raise" enter at least $50 x # of Team Members
  • Start asking for small donations to meet your $50 goal and get together new team members
  • We'll send you a toolkit with recruitment materials for team members and donors

All team members will receive some great swag when they sign in on April 28 - and every Team will receive one copy of the forthcoming edition of Our Food, Our Right: Recipes for Justice once it's published!

 

Individuals - Solo hikers pledge to raise $50 to participate in the event and do the hike on April 28.  Reach out to your community—every $10, $15, $20 goes to support great work!

To get started as an individual:

  • click "Fundraise for this Event" at the top right
  • click "Join as an Individual"
  • Fill out the fields with your own options to start your own fundraising page - under "Amount of Money You Hope to Raise" enter at leat $50
  • Click "Ask for donations" and invite friends and family to visit your fundraising page and start collecting donations to reach your $50 goal!
  • We'll send you a toolkit with recruitment materials for donors too

Everyone who reaches their goal will get some great swag when they sign in on April 28 to start the amazing route and fun activities we have planned.
 

 

Can't hike, but want to donate and don't know any of the hikers or Teams below?  Just pick one of the lucky Teams below to lend your support to and help them meet their goals!

 

Donor Incentives: in addition to supporting your hike and an exciting new publication, here's some kudos for donors that give in big ways to support the effort—be sure to let them know!

  • Any donor that gives at least $25 to help you meet your fundraising goal will receive a copy of the first edition of "Our Food, Our Right: Recipes for Justice."
  • Any donor that gives at least $50 to meet your fundraising goal will receive a copy of the first and second editions of "Our Food, Our Right: Recipes for Justice"
  • Any donor that gives at least $75 will receive surprise swag and one copy of both editions of the book!
