Happy April, CR friend!
Reader to Reader is auctioning off some great artwork to raise funds for our many international programs, thanks to our friends at the ART4GOOD Foundation. If you like art, books, or education, stop by and take a look at the 35 beautiful pieces available! http://bit.ly/HjFtMO
You get a beautiful piece of art, and RTR can:
-provide special education programs for children in the Dominican Republic;
-teach women to read in Nigeria;
-keep abandoned children in childhood through reading and improve theater in rural China;
-sponsor Haitian kids to finish school;
-continue to grow our public library in a coffee-farming Costa Rican village;
AND support many other programs that do wonderful work in India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Kosovo, Ghana and other countries.
If art isn’t your thing, you can still support our programs by donating or joining our team. Take a look at my projects to see more of what we do.
All the best, and HAPPY READING,
Kat

Happy March! This is a month o…
Happy March! This is a month of really awesome holidays. International Women's Day, International Reading Day, Dr. Seuss Day, St Patrick's Day.. and who could forget Alien Abduction Day?

In honor of these wonderful holidays, many of which support women and reading, To Mother With Love is announcing a $500 challenge grant from a local donor. Every dollar donated to our project, up to $500, will be matched! Please give to support the women of Ikenne, Nigeria, who have for so long sacrificed for their children to become educated, but cannot read themselves. If you are unable to donate this month, please pass along this opportunity or become a team member. Thank you for your support!

Happy New Year! A vote from me to you, and remember to find the time to read something this year, in between all the wonderful work you do!

"These are not books, lumps of lifeless paper, but minds alive on the shelves. From each of them goes out its own voice... and just as the touch of a button on our set will fill the room with music, so by taking down one of these volumes and opening it, one can call into range the voice of a man far distant in time and space, and hear him speaking to us, mind to mind, heart to heart." ~Gilbert Highet

December vote for you! It’s the end of another amazing year at Reader to Reader, and I am so excited to start another one. Please take a look at my projects and join the team for global literacy, or even donate: a $10 donation sends a box of books to an under-resourced library here in the states! Every bit of support makes a difference. Thank you for helping us change the world, one book at a time.

November vote for you!

This year we've seen tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, arson, and the ever-present budget cuts continue to undermine our schools and libraries. WE NEED BOOKS TO LEARN, yet there are schools out there that haven't been able to buy a new book since before the first lunar landing. Reader to Reader sends out millions of dollars worth of books every year to low-income and rural schools and libraries, FREE-OF-CHARGE.

Please consider donating to Reader to Reader, or spreading the word about our work. It is so important to bring literacy to our kids, and get this country READING!!

Best,
Kat

Hello Carol, how are you doing…
Hello Carol, how are you doing? Here is my July vote for you.

I was wondering if you would like to join my fundraiser for The Trevor Project : http://www.crowdrise.com/fundraiserelise/fundraiser/elisemariemyrvangeik this fundraiser was my very first fundraiser on Crowdrise and it means alot to me personally. There are so many teenagers that are struggeling daily with being discriminated for who they are, just because of who they love. This is not right and we need to show the world that equal rights counts for all no matter who we are or what we do in life. No one has the right to judge others. The Trevor Project is the only helpline through telephone for gay teens in all of USA!! and so therefore this is a very important organisasation to support. You can take a look at Trevor Project's homesite here: http://www.thetrevorproject.org/

Daniel Radcliffe (also known as the main role in Harry Potter) is one of the main spokesperson for The Trevor Project, here you can read more about what he has to say about this very important organisasation for teens all over USA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMaVp_kQDqU

Please become a teammember and help donate to my fundraiser so that more teens can become proud of who they are, and let us raise awareness together.

"No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted".

Sending a May vote to you afte…
Sending a May vote to you after a bit of a hiatus. Spring time is the time when the belly dance community here goes into full force, and the vast majority of our shows are charity events, so I have been busy. Spring, however, is the time for new beginnings, and it was time for me to make some serious changes. New living arrangements, a new job, and new opportunities have dominated the past few months, but my Crowdrise friends were always close to my heart (even if my heart was not close to my computer during this time). I admit to feeling a bit out of touch, but hope to catch up quickly. Keep up the awesome job you are doing!
