A SUMMARY OF OUR STORY!
Carol is my mother, she was extremely active, working full time delivering medical supplies to oil rigs throughout West Texas and New Mexico. She went to aerobics classes for one hour three times a week. She never smokes and she doesn't drink. About two months ago she went to the E.R with severe pain in her back. The physician on duty told her it was constipation. He gave her several different types of stool softeners and told her to take them, she took them and returned again less than 24 hours later and was told it was still constipation by the same dr. She said she knew it was something different and went back numerous times to take various tests including M.R.I's. The nurses called about 3 days later and said they wanted her to take a chest x-ray. The results found a mass the size of a large lemon in one of her lungs and another outside of it. We went to Odessa Regional for more tests and a biopsy, The results were the same and the doctors told us they thought it was non-small cell cancer and referred us to MD Anderson in Houston, TX. about 600 miles away she traveled here to Houston with myself my fiancee, her husband and her sister. She took a Pt scan and a Ct scan and they found cancer everywhere except for her liver and her brain and the mass in her lung was now the size of a grapefruit, I don't know exactly what she is officially diagnosed with. So far it's been constipation, lung cancer, and possible renal carcinoma. She's started her Chemotherapy just this evening (middle of march 2011)and hopefully we'll be finding out more about how the chemotherapy works out on her body.
