LINN COUNTY CHILD VICTIM ASSESSMENT CENTER INC's Fundraiser:
Celebrate Hope 2011
EVENT DATE: Apr 12, 2011
HERE'S THE STORY:
Celebrate Hope is a project to raise $25,000 to provide services to children
that have been abused, trauma counseling to help the whole family heal, and
education programs for middle and high school students to help prevent child
abuse from happening or to encourage victims to disclose so they can begin
to heal. The event will be held at the Linn County Fairgrounds on April 12th at 5:30pm.
Help stop child abuse by giving a contribution to help a child!
1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys will be sexually molested before the
age of 18. At ABC House half of the children we see for assessment services
are under the age of 6. 61% are girls and 39% are boys. Assessment
services include medical examinations in a child friendly environment by a
doctor who specializes in child abuse injuries. It also includes a forensic
interview with someone who is trained on how to communicate with a child
based on their level of development. Interviews are recorded for review by
police, District Attorneys and Department of Human Services staff who are
working on the case and trying to determine what is in the child's best
interests. Family Advocacy services are offered to help the families deal
with their anger and stress and to understand the criminal justice system
and what to expect going forward. Trauma counseling is offered to help the
child and the non-offending family members deal with their emotions after
this has happened.
You can help us help more than 500 children each year by making a donation
of even $20. Thank you for your support!
