The reason I'm a part of Team Rett and running the Boston marathon is because of my life being touched by a very special little girl, Evelyn who has Rett syndrome. Her mother Laurie (who is also on this team) and I became friends when she moved to Phoenix. We both had baby girls and we are both airline pilots. I have been witness the effects of this devastating disease on Evelyn and her family. Being a mother myself of a daughter Evelyn's age it is heartbreaking that she cannot run and play with the other children. I feel passionately about raising awareness and funds to help find a cure. Laurie has been my inspiration for running when she started running to relieve stress. She ran my first half marathon with me, inspired my to do a full marathon, and ran the MC Marathon with me. So it is my privledge and honor to be on this team with her to raise money for Rett Syndrome and run the Boston marathon.
