THE STORY:

Cultural Leadership Inc wrote -

Run in the GO St. Louis marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K, 1-mile walk/fun run or volunteer as course monitor and help Cultural Leadership put an end to racism!

Teaching teens to be activists, community organizers and "troublemakers of the best kind."

Cultural Leadership exists to create a more just and equitable community by educating high school students in the St. Louis region to recognize and resolve issues of privilege and injustice to become social justice activists.

Our students develop leadership skills, build relationships and facilitate dialogues to become change agents and what we affectionately call "troublemakers of the best kind," to make St. Louis and the greater community more socially just and inclusive.

Why Cultural Leadership?

Although progress has been made on the inequalities in our society related to racism and discrimination, there continues to be disparities in education, healthcare, economic development and the criminal justice system. Historic housing and social patterns in St. Louis have created few opportunities for students of different races to interact. Where opportunities do exist, self-segregation often occurs.

According to a report entitled Racial Equality in the St. Louis Region: A Call To Action, St. Louis is one of the most racially segregated, most racially polarized metropolitian areas in the country with too many people suffering the inherent consequences.

Clearly, there is a need for enlightened future leaders who recognize and understand these disparities and inquities and who can take action agains social injustice to benefit all aspects of our society.

This is why Cultural Leadership is so important!
