Cutting for a Cure is an event to get the public informed and to help the people in need. It provides free screenings such as prostate cancer, colon cancer, blood pressure, diabetes, rapid HIV testing and more. With partnerships created  with the Barbershop Quartet who’s goal is to improve  the quality of life within communities and ethnic groups that are underserved  by the medical community due to the lack of access to healthcare,and cultural barriers to health education which are classic contributors to the poor  health conditions among underserved populations. For these reasons, Cutting For A Cure pays particular attention to the health concerns of communities that  are at an increased and disproportionate risk for illnesses such as: cancer, stroke, coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and HIV/AIDS. C4C believes that every man, woman, and child  is entitled to good health and the necessary tools to teach them to live a long, healthy life.

Our goal is to improve the health of the underserved by providing knowledge about common diseases,  screenings for many of these medical conditions and access to affordable health care resources. Our main objective is to help minority men by educating, empowering and offering easier access to better handle their health care needs. (C4C)’s difference is the method of delivery! Using the barbershop as the tool to disseminate the information directly to the heart of the community through regular health fairs, radio programming, the internet and other community events–all in a language, tone and tempo that resonates throughout the minority community. Our belief is empowerment and education is some of the best medicines for staying healthy!  

As recently as 1999, the Health Census Bereau's study showed that the life expectancy  for Whites was 77 years compared to on 71years for African Americans. Statistics have shown Black Men suffer  from the worst  health compared to other racial groups in  America!  they live 7.1 years less than less than other racial groups and have the highest rates of death for all causes. For all these reasons Cutting For A Cure  Health Fair was created to target African American men, we encourage wives and daughters that care about the men in their lives to get checked.  Our Message is " You Only Have One Body"!
