I'm training to run my first marathon (Chicago, 2010), and I'm hoping to make a difference in the process. I'm running with the Hall Steps Foundation (Steps). Steps is committed to combating poverty both globally and locally.
Money raised will go to support clean water projects in sub-Saharan Africa through World Vision, anti-human trafficking efforts in Southeast Asia through International Justice Mission, as well as a running/mentoring initiative in urban communities here in the United States. The pilot "Small Steps" site has launched here in the Austin neighborhood, where I live and work. I'm excited to be involved in this new effort in our neighborhood to help bring health and hope to young people in need. I'm hoping to raise $100 for every one of the 26.2 miles I'm training to run on October 10, 2010. I'd love to find 100 people who will join my support team by donating $26.20 (or any amount you'd like to give) to help me reach the goal of raising $2620 to support these causes.
