After many many years spent as a Radio DJ, getting frustrated that radio is such a passive medium and though I tried every day through my show to 'change the world' I was not getting any 'measurable' results, I applied for the position of Programme Coordinator for the Namibian branch of the Children in the Wilderness Trust. The programme has been very successfully run over the past years and I will be taking over a wonderfully successful project that has already managed to 'change' the lives of so many of Namibia's less fortunate children. I hope to continue this legacy and carry on growing both awareness of the programme and its impact on the community and country.
As CITW is not a registered charity in the States I have chosen to instead try raising money for the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps as they are the model on which CITW is based, and it was through their founder's (American actor Paul Newman) encouragement that programme was started.
Having said that, CITW also needs funds (and remember when you donate US$ 10 over there, here it turns into around 100 Namibian Dollars) so please feel free to make international donations to:
