DEAFHOPE’S HERSTORY

The mission of DeafHope is to end domestic violence and sexual assault against Deaf women and children through empowerment, education and services.

DeafHope is the only Deaf-run certified domestic and sexual violence agency in California.  As a grassroots organization, our goal is to to create a cutting edge repository of information about individual empowerment and ending violence. We want to increase our focus on training and support to services providers so they become more effective in serving Deaf survivors of domestic and sexual assault.  We want to foster deep and respectful dialogue in our community about social justice.  We believe that this approach will build the capacity of all parts of the community to better serve Deaf survivors.  We want the voices of Deaf survivors to be honored and empowered everywhere, making a bigger safe space for them than just DeafHope.  

DeafHope has grown rapidly since 2003 with new trends in our community, growth of social media and an increased demand for community accountability.  It is time for a complete systems change, for us to work together to end all forms of oppression. 

HOW YOU CAN END VIOLENCE NOW

There are many ways you can join us in this important and powerful cause!! You can join DeafHope marathon team that will run the ING New York City Marathon, become a sposnor of the team or one of our events, or simply as one of our angel donors.  Our goal is to raise $300,000.  We thank you in advance for your support in making a positive difference in the lives of many Deaf women and children.  Your contribution will make our community effort rewarding.
