According to statistics published by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) in 2010 on September 15th, 5,261 victims were provided with services from domestic violence agencies throughout California. 1 out of 4 women experience abuse by their boyfriend or spouse and only ¼ of women report the abuse. Tragically, 3 women a day are killed by their abusers.
Domestic violence is no longer a family matter. It affects individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, race, religion, nationality or educational background. It is a growing problem in the country creating a long lasting impact on victims and family.
DVC (Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley) promotes healthy relationships and family systems through intervention, prevention, and education. DVC provides service to victims of domestic violence including 24 Hour Crisis Hotline, emergency shelter, counseling services, court advocacy, legal referrals and community outreach.
