We are a wildlife hospital and nature center specializing in birds of prey.
What could be more riveting than stories about love, loss, pain and triumph? Each bird that comes to us has a story - what happened to it (we often never know), who found it, where, in what shape, how it gets rescued, who brings it in, what happens to it here, will it get back to the wild? Our goal is to get them all back out there but, like the rest of life, we don't always get what we want. But we make every effort, every time.
We also have resident birds - our education 'staff' - who entrance and enrapture visitors and school children and bend them to their will ... so they grow up to remove all barbed wire, windows and power lines, keep cars off any roads chosen by raptors, and beat up any idiot who tries to shoot a bird of prey.
So, in 'mission-speak': Through wildlife rehabilitation and public education, Cascades Raptor Center fosters a connection between people and birds of prey. Our goal is to help the human part of the natural community learn to value, understand, and honor the role of wildlife in preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Pacific Northwest.
