The Abundant Waters program started out small with 12 sixth-grade girls in a dance class. But soon sports, drama, chess, art, music were added. Children flocked to the program, soaking it all up. In fact, that’s what the name Abundant Waters means—that every child deserves “watering” or nurturing and the chance to bloom.

The program is now serves over 100 children, providing daily homework tutoring, chess instruction and sports participation. Weekly classes include dance, art, music, cooking, knitting, wall climbing and computer skills. There are also bowling and ice skating excursions and trips to quality films.

Saturday, August 11th Michele Fenice is racing in the Ironman New York.  Michele has raced for us before and she always delivers an amazing result both on the clock and for the kids. Michele will be  swimming 2.4 miles in the Hudson River, riding 112 miles along the Palisades and running 26.2 miles along river road, over the George Washington Bridge and finishing in Manhattan, very near the Abundant Waters after school program!  How appropriate is that?

This is our THIRD year of having a team running for Abundant Waters in for the NYC Marathon!!  Abundant Waters is so proud to have five veteran marathoners (okay maybe some of them haven't done a marathon in fifteen years!) but they are coming out of retirement for the kids of Abundant Waters.

Also, for the second year, Abundant Waters is grateful to send two fearless warriors ready to brave the waters of San Francisco to finish the famous Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.

And for the first time we have Marlie Beuhler who is running the Marathon is also doing her very first triathlon at the Danskin Tri in New Jersey in September.  Joining her is Abundant Waters supporter Mary Ann LeFort who is also doing her first triathlon.
