In Memory of Enrique Ng Chang and Yuk Jim "Estelle" Chang
Jenny
HERE'S THE STORY:
Both of our parents, Enrique Ng Chang and Yuk Jim "Estelle" Chang had cancer. Dad had prostate cancer. By the time they diagnosed Dad with prostate cancer, it was Stage 4 cancer. He was given 6 months to live. Dad died from a stroke, but the cancer complicated things for him. He passed away on March 31, 2005. Our mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the beginning of July 2011. She fought for a month and passed away on August 8, 2011. Watching both parents suffer from cancer has brought new light to us. Cancer does not discriminate. It can hit anyone at any time.
When a family is faced with cancer, everyone’s lives changes forever. Ours did. With both parents we were surprise at the cost of the medication. During Dad’s battle with cancer, we paid the medication out of pocket. However during Mom’s battle with cancer, we got a grant to help offset Mom’s medication and that was such a help. We often hear about all these cancer organizations asking for donation for research & to help patients, but we never thought we would be one of those families that would be so grateful for their help during a difficult time. Because of our experience, we decided to set up this website in memory of our parents and raise some money for the American Cancer Society. We hope that soon, all cancer will be cured and we can take a more proactive approach to cancer rather than a reactive approach.
We miss our Mom and Dad. They will forever be in our hearts.
