THE STORY:
Hi everyone!! :)
UC Riverside is hosting its FIRST ever Dance Marathon! YAY!
Dance Marathon is a 6-hour dance marathon to raise money and awareness for the Guardian Scholars Program at UC Riverside.
The Guardian Scholars Program provides scholarships, life coaching, mentors, housing, and personalized attention to emancipated foster youth.
- About 70% of foster youth say they want a college education, but only 10% enroll, and only 1% earn a degree.
- Within 18 months of emancipation, 40-50% of foster youth become homeless.
- Only 46% of former foster youth complete high school (compared to 84% of the general population).
With your help, we'll be able to give more students the chance to get an education. :)
Dance Marathon 2012 will be a huge celebration on February 25th, 2012 that brings students, staff, faculty, and entertainers together to raise money for an amazing cause and inspire people to stand up for education and support former foster youth. All proceeds raised from Dance Marathon will go directly to the Guardian Scholars Program!
